HACKNEY TREE CARERS' CELEBRATION

A celebration of Hackney’s Tree Carers was held at The Round Chapel School Hall in Powerscroft Road, London E5 on Saturday, March 31st 2007.  There were exhibitions of Tree Carers in action across the Borough and a grafting workshop in the garden outside the hall.

The event was a celebration to mark the successful launch of the Hackney Tree Carers’ Scheme. The message from Russell Miller at Groundwork East London, who set up the scheme, was this:

Please remember however great or small your contribution, whether you watered lots of trees or just sent me an e-mail to report a problem, you are all part of an important network looking after and protecting trees in Hackney. This is your day; a chance to meet, exchange experiences and have some fun – and to pick up your free copy of the Tree Care Guide.

The Tree Care Guide (pdf) A Simple Handbook for Nurturing Young Trees aims to support the hundreds of volunteers involved in tree care in Hackney. You can pick up a free copy at any meeting of the Tree Musketeers or view it online.

Russell has since left Groundwork and continues his activities with the Tree Musketeers. Contact: TM@km551818.demon.co.uk or phone 07758 326530 or (020) 8985 5008
